Harris wins Macleod B&F, Team of the Decade named

Harris, who tied for the award last year with skipper Kane Shaw, won in another close vote count.

He edged out Shaun Melican (son of club legend Tom) by two votes with Shaw a further six votes away in third place.

In the reserves there was a tie between Ben Porter and Brett Wilding.

Promising young ruckman/key position player Ben Hines won the under-19s best and fairest by six votes from Matthew Yarwood.

In the netball awards, Aimee Deacon won the A section best and fairest from Mel Laird while Megan West won the B section best and fairest.  

2012 Best and Fairest Results:

Seniors: 1st – Ryan Harris (95), 2nd – Shaun Melican (93), 3rd – Kane Shaw (87)

Reserves: 1st – Ben Porter (60) and Brett Wilding (60), 2nd – Christian Forester (56)

Under-19s: 1st – Ben Hines (117), 2nd – Matthew Yarwood (111), 3rd – Daniel Francis (86)

Netball A: 1st – Aimee Deacon (24), 2nd – Mel Laird (18), 3rd – Kelli Lambert (17)

Netball B: 1st – Megan West (19), 2nd – Rebecca Flynn (15), 3rd – Ellen Close (12) 

MEANWHILE, at a sellout dinner hosted two weeks ago, Macleod named its Team of the Decade (2000-2009). The decade saw the Kangaroos reach four Division 2 Grand Finals, win the 2009 premiership and regularly play finals.
