Trevor Robinson has been appointed an assistant coach at Montmorency Football Club.

Robinson joins Greg Whitcroft as a senior assistant to Bryan Cole.

He will replace former Magpies assistant Andrew Shakespeare who was appointed head coach of the Northern Knights in the TAC Cup for the 2014 season.

Robinson has a long and distinguished history within the Northern Football League/Diamond Valley Football League.

He was named captain of Bundoora’s Team of the Century after playing in six Grand Finals – including four wins – with the Bulls. He was captain of the club’s 1995 and 1996 Division 1 back-to-back premiership wins.

In 2012 he served as a senior assistant to Phil Maylin, before joining the Magpies nest to coach Montmorency’s under-15 side during the 2013 season.

Montmorency’s pre-season campaign began on Monday as it looks to go one step better following this year’s Grand Final defeat.
