Kounelis set for first AFL call

NFNL Match of the Day alumni Jordan Kounelis will call his first AFL game on Sunday.

After anchoring the NFNL’s radio coverage for the past eight years, Kounelis will be behind the microphone for AFL Nation during Sunday’s clash between Hawthorn and Brisbane at the MCG.

Kounelis joined the NFNL Match of the Day team as a 16-year-old in 2012.

He instantly formed a fabulous partnership with Tom Flanagan to provide NFNL supporters with a comprehensive and entertaining match broadcast each week of the football season.

NFNL Media Manager Samuel Zito said Kounelis had thoroughly earned his opportunity to call at AFL level.

“The entire NFNL community congratulates Jordan on making it to the big league and we wish him the best of luck with his first AFL call,” Zito said.

“Jordan has been a dedicated and enthusiastic member of the NFNL media team since 2012.

“To volunteer his time every week of the football season for the past eight years demonstrates his commitment and professionalism as a broadcaster.

“He has worked hard on his craft and has deservedly worked his way through the ranks.

“We all look forward to hearing him on the airwaves throughout the 2020 AFL season.”
