Former Diamond Creek premiership star Elle McDonald made her Super Netball debut for the Melbourne Vixens on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old mid-courter featured in the Vixens’ 69-59 victory over West Coast Fever at Queensland’s Nissan Arena.

The result saw the Vixens swiftly bounce back from their first defeat of the season two days prior to retain top spot on the Suncorp Super Netball ladder after five rounds.

McDonald previously played 18 games for Diamond Creek in the NFNL netball competition.

She was an integral member of the club’s 2013 Section 1 premiership side, playing 17 matches including the grand final win over Lakeside.

McDonald finished sixth in the Section 1 best and fairest voting that season.

She progressed to play Victorian Fury and was last year part of the team that won the Deakin University Australian Netball League (DUANL) premiership. She was also named in the 2019 Victorian Netball League (VNL) Team of the Year for the Championship division.

McDonald was added to the Vixens training squad last December, capping an outstanding year which also saw her lead Seymour to the 2019 A-Grade premiership in the Goulburn Valley league, where she was named best on court in the grand final win.

The NFNL congratulates Elle on making her Super Netball debut and wishes her the best for the remainder of the 2020 campaign.
