NFNL Statement – Netball Fixture Changes

Published on Thursday, June 17, 2021

Following yesterday’s announcement by the Victorian Government regarding ongoing COVID restrictions, the NFNL wishes to advise of changes to the netball fixture, including games on June 18.

Under the new restrictions in place for metropolitan Melbourne, the maximum venue capacity for all indoor physical recreation and sport activities is 50 people.

For this week’s matches, the NFNL has been able to gain access to two courts at each of La Trobe University and RMIT Bundoora, following the current capacity ruling.

Unfortunately, Mernda Central and Mernda Park will not be opened to external users this weekend. We are hoping for this to change in time for next week’s games.

As such, please be advised of the following changes to the 2021 netball home and away fixtures.

2021 NETBALL FIXTURE CHANGES

• Sections 1-6 will not play this Friday June 18. Round 7 matches in these sections will now be played on Friday June 25. A split round had previously been scheduled for these sections in Round 12. The split round has now been removed to ensure 14 home and away rounds can still be played.

• Sections 7-8 will not play this Friday June 18. Unfortunately, Round 7 matches for these two sections have been cancelled as we are not able to reschedule them within our season dates.

• Sections 9-13 will play Round 7 matches this Friday June 18. A new fixture for this week’s games has been created to allow us to play under the current venue capacity limits.

Please click here to download the fixture for matches to be played on Friday June 18.

With the changes to this week’s fixtures, and the removal of the spilt round in Sections 1-6, all netball fixtures have temporarily been removed from the website.

Updated fixtures will be published to the website once the required changes are made.

We acknowledge the situation is not ideal, however we must adapt accordingly to the changing restrictions.

We thank you for your assistance and understanding.

All players and officials involved in this week’s matches must adhere to all COVID guidelines, including:

• Check-in at the venue using the QR code displayed at the main entrance.
• We will be asking teams to wait outside until their scheduled game time to ensure there is not a huge overlap between each session.
• Each team can have up to 10 players listed to play on the team sheet.
• Each team can have 1 coach and 1 scorer/team manager (2 officials total)
• No spectators are permitted into the netball venues, including children.
• All players and umpires must wear a mask when indoors and not participating in the game.
• All NFNL staff and club officials must wear a mask indoors.
• If you have an exemption for not wearing a mask, please ensure you have it on you.
