Senior Teams – Round 5

Published on Friday, May 8, 2015

THE SELECTED senior teams for this weekend’s matches.

Following the announcement of club legend Blair Harvey’s retirement, Heidelberg heads undermanned into its grand final rematch against Greensborough.

Already without Paul Bower, the Tigers have also lost captain Jason Kennedy and forward Daniel Archer to injury. Michael Finn returns to the side following last week’s lost at West Preston-Lakeside.

Greensborough will be bolstered by the return of key defender Nick Riddle and forward Josh Riddle after both missed last week’s big win over North Heidelberg.

Northcote Park captain Bronik Davies will play just his second senior match for 2015 when the Cougars host Lower Plenty at Bill Lawry Oval. The two-time Frank Rosbrook Trophy winner has had an interrupted start to the season due to filming commitments for Channel 7 program House Rules, of which he is a contestant this series.

Coburg-listed defender Matthew Clark will play his first NFL game of the season when ladder-leader Macleod heads to Eltham. The Panthers have regained youngster Adam Brovedani.

Ricky Dyson returns to Bundoora’s line-up for its home clash against winless North Heidelberg. The Doggies will be improved by the return of Jackson Jones and James McLean Brunton – who will play his first game for the club since 2011 after returning from Heidelberg West.

Whittlesea will field two VFL-listed players this weekend, with Cameron Conlon and Jai Robinson both set to play for the Eagles against Fitzroy Stars. Jake McCauley and Keith Morgan both return for the Stars in the 2013 Division 2 grand final rematch.

Elsewhere, Diamond Creek co-captain Travis Knight returns for his side’s venture to Hurstbridge, while Thomastown captain Anthony Fazzari has been named for his side’s match against Mernda.

Another captain will return to play in Division 3, with Daniel Heatley recalled from injury for South Morang’s home match against St Mary’s. Both sides will use an additional under-19 player for the game under the league’s 23rd player rule.

And Kane Moore will play his first game for Heidelberg West this season when the Hawks travel to Watsonia.
