Heidelberg Golf Club Division 3 Preview – Semi Finals

Published on Thursday, August 21, 2025

After two differing games in the first weekend of Heidelberg Golf Club Division 3 finals action, this weekend’s presents an enticing pair of contests.

Laurimar booked their ticket to a second-semi final date with the Fitzroy Stars after a comfortable 59-point triumph over Ivanhoe in the Qualifying Final.

Wayne Schutlz’s men now meet Kilmore after they defeated Kinglake for the third time this season despite having 10 less scoring shots than the Hoers.

With all four sides in some strong form and very evenly matched, this weekend games are shaping up to be cracking contests.

The first spot in the Heidelberg Golf Club Division 3 Grand Final is on the line when the Fitzroy Stars and Laurimar meet this Saturday at Main Street Recreation Reserve.

Neville Jetta’s men enter this weekend fresh after having the first weekend of finals off and after going through the home and away season undefeated.

Kain Proctor and Jai Burns have starred all season long while Elijah Taylor has led the charge up forward with 46 goals in 15 games.

This weekend could see them regain the services of star forward Patrick Farrant from VFL duties in a boost for their attacking half.

They meet a Laurimar side who’ve only lost to the Stars this season and have started to build some strong form since their last meeting with their foes this Saturday.

Patrick Fitzgerald led the way in attack with five goals in last weekend’s Qualifying Final win against Ivanhoe while Cooper Herbert and Bailey Macleod were electrifying in midfield.

Their most recent loss to the Stars came by eight points at Sir Doug Nicholls Oval despite leading at three quarter time.

Earlier in the season the Stars got a hold of the Power by 24 points at Laurimar Reserve.

Ivanhoe and Kilmore will meet in Sunday’s first semi-final at Main Street Recreation Reserve, with Ivanhoe entering and Kilmore remaining in do-or-die mode.

The winner of this contest will be set to play in their first ever preliminary final in the Northern Football Netball League.

Ivanhoe entered the finals in good form, but fell at the first hurdle in their qualifying final meeting against Laurimar.

Despite the loss, Kane Veliou and Marcel Moran provided plenty of spark through midfield alongside ruck Oscar McIntyre.

Kilmore on the other hand enter this game with plenty of momentum behind them after winning their last three games as well as six of their last seven games.

In their elimination final win against Kinglake last Sunday, Lachlan Chesner and Liam Monaghan had stellar performances in midfield alongside captain Chris Barton and defender Benjamin Barton.

Ivanhoe got a hold of Kilmore in their only meeting to date in season 2025, with a five goal to nil opening term enough to see the Hoers over the line by 37 points.
