A look back over last weekend’s action in the Under-16 to Under-18 junior competitions.

Research and Mernda kicked off the Under 18 Girls at Research Park. Research continues to stay at the top of the ladder with a big win against Mernda on their home ground, kicking 17.15 (117) whilst keeping Mernda at 0.1 (1). Ally Pilakis scored seven goals for the Searchers, Sierra Filippone scored five and five other players also scored a goal for the Searchers. Catherine Wilson, Charli King, Haylie Brooks, Taylah Buck and Isabella Loguancio played exceptionally well for Mernda.

Eltham faced a big loss on their home ground against Yarrambat. Unfortunately for Eltham they couldn’t convert any goals this game, whereas Yarrambat scored 20.13 (133) goals. Nine of Yarrambat’s players scored for their team this game, with Somer McCormack kicking four. Emma Hendrie, Jasmine Sellman and Madeleine Ball played well for Yarrambat. As for Eltham, Georgie Conlin, Ruby Bishop, Shaelee Jenkins and Eleni McCausland played well.

Diamond Creek Women’s was out this weekend with a bye.

Eltham Black played at their home ground against Yarrambat to kick off the Under 17.5 Boys. Yarrambat took the win by 17 points, keeping Eltham Black at 11.6 (72) whilst scoring 14.5 (89) themselves. It was a hard-fought game from both teams, although Yarrambat were ahead of Eltham Black, they slowly found their form and got a few goals in. Nine of Yarrambat’s players scored a goal, with Archer Harvey kicking four goals while Issac Jones and Benjamin Wilson both scored two each. Oliver Gale, Kale Bollenhagen, Matthew D’Amico, Will Lewis and Rhaine Howse were some of Eltham Blacks best players this game.

Wallan played against Montmorency at Greenhill Reserve. Montmorency won by 13 points. Wallan were ahead of Montmorency in the first two quarters of the game before falling behind after the third quarter, eventually going down 7.9 (51) to 10.4 (64). Riley Keating, Issac Mullins, Sjouke Eyre, Zane Haddon, Nic Telfer and Benjamin Feeney were some of Montmorency’s best players. Jack Brundell scored a total of 3 goals for Wallan, Campbell Harrison scored 2, James Kelly and Harley Lisle scored a goal each too.

Whittlesea faced Mernda on their home ground and won by 63 points, 11.16 (82) to 2.7 (19). Mernda couldn’t convert any goals until the fourth quarter. Whittlesea had eight goal scorers throughout this game, Oliver Morgan being their highest goal scorer this game with three goals. Jack Egan and Tristan Sterjovski scored one each for Mernda.

South Morang Blue faced Laurimar at Mill Park Lakes Reserve. It was a close game between both teams, with the Power ending up winners 8.11 (59) to 8.7 (55). South Morang Blue held the lead for majority of the first three quarters, however Laurimar found their form and managed to get the win. Domenic Grillo, Chase Pell, Nicholas Torquati, Jason Arden and Adam Huybers were some of South Morang Blue’s best players this game. Logan Knight was Laurimar’s highest goal scorer this game with three goals, with Aston Carrick, Mason Fitzgerald, Conor Nolan, Harrison Rodda and Kade Weston all scoreing a goal each for Laurimar.

Diamond Creek had a bye this week.

Kilmore faced Mernda at JJ Clancy Reserve to commence the final round of the Under 16 Girls (1) season. Kilmore won by 39 points, 6.11 (47) to 1.2 (8). Four of Kilmore’s players scored a goal this game, Amarni Bentley and Violet Jacob’s both kicking two goals each for their team. Matilda Skora, Hannah Gibson, and Chiara Amaroso were some of Kilmore’s best players while Mernda’s only goalkicker was Holly Muscat

Research faced a defeat on their home ground by only three points against Diamond Creek Women’s. The Searchers were ahead of the Creekers in the second and third quarter, however they couldn’t keep the momentum going for the rest of the game against the Creekers, the scores were settled at 3.6 (24) for the Searchers and 4.3 (27) for the Creekers. Amy Coleman, Dakota Edmonds, Amelia Sala and Ayva Humphrey’s were some of Research’s best players. Hazel Baillie, Jerzie Bishop, Lily Irvin and Maci Madin all scored a goal each for the Creekers.

Yarrambat remained on top of the ladder with another big win against Eltham Black by 63 points, 9.10 (64) to 0.1 (1). Five of Yarrambat’s players scored a goal, Madelyn Thomas scored a total of three goals while Charli-Jordan Ford and Grace Robinson both scored two goals for Yarrambat. Willow Carbone, Charlotte Morris, and Matilda Johnson were some of Eltham Black’s best players this game.

The Under 16 Girls (2) competition kicked off with Darebin Women’s facing off against Wallan at AH Capp Reserve. The Falcons continued to make their way up the ladder after they secured a 63-point win, 11.15 (81) to 3.0 (18). Seven of Darebin’s girls scored a goal this game, Grace Barker, Zara Bradley, Vieda Simons-Moemai and Mikaila Theodoropoulos all scoring two goals each. Ariana Lauletta, Heidi Jacob’s, Abby Carland and Taleea Brown were some of Wallan’s best players this game.

Sitting just below each other on the ladder, South Morang and Whittlesea faced off against each other at A.F. Walker Reserve. South Morang took the win by only 10 points, 4.5 (29) to 2.7 (19). Angelina Iacopelli, Aila McMackin, captain Lexie Rutter and Isabella Vescio were South Morang’s goal scorers this game. Skyla Robinson, Kiah McKinnon-Rowe, Summer Hempenstall and Alannah Purcell were some of Whittlesea’s best players this game.

Montmorency gained a huge win on their home ground against Laurimar by 72 points, 12.9 (81) to 1.3 (9). Brooke Suckling scored four, Chloe Hicks scored three and Alyssa Wearne scored two for the who were well led by Lily Denton and Zoey Cummings. Joanna Santos, Eliana Hansen, Brodie Clark and Harper Stock were some of Laurimar’s best players this game.

Whittlesea faced off Diamond Creek at Whittlesea Showgrounds to begin the Under 16 Boys (1) competition, the Creekers taking home the win by 10 points 13.8 (84) to 11.8 (74). Eight of the Creekers players scored this game, with Joel Freeman, Jordan Giamarelos, Hugo Hunter, Oliver Shields and Jyi Wallington all scoring two goals each this game. Noah Carroll, Lachlan McCumber, Noah Anderson, Jaxson Meyer and Orlando Andersen-Wells were some of Whittlesea’s best players this game while Lachlan McCumber kicked four goals.

South Morang faced Greensborough at War Memorial Park. The first quarter of the game was close before Greensborough were in the lead during the second and third quarters. However South Morang had a major come back, kicking nine goals to one in the last to secure a 14.9 (93) to 7.10 (52) triumph. South Morang had seven goal scorers; Jonathan Yacoub was their highest goal scorer with five goals while Sebastian Tawadros scored three. Miles Goldsworthy, Jack Edwards, Vincent Cartisano and Nathan Halley were some of Greensborough’s best players this game.

Laurimar Black had a close game against Eltham Black at Laurimar Reserve, going down for the first time this season 6.7 (43) to 5.17 (47). Will Broadbent scored four goals for Laurimar Black while Fletcher Carrick and Lucas Rizio scored one each. Jeremy Potter, Ryan Talarico, Albi Williams, Xander Rosales and Harrison Giles were some of Eltham Black’s best players.

Yarrambat faced Kilmore on their home ground. Yarrambat was in front for majority of the first three quarters of the game, however Kilmore found their momentum late and took the win by six points, 6.13 (49) to 8.7 (55). Four of Yarrambats players scored a goal, with Benjamin Hodgson and Ethan Thornton Williams leading the way up forward with two goals each. Campbell White, Lucas Chesswas, Frazer McMahon, Lachlan Peggie and Lewis King were some of Kilmore’s best players.

The Under 16 Boys (2) competition kicked off at Ben Frilay Oval on Friday night, with Hurstbridge taking home a big win against Kinglake at Ben Frilay Oval 31.18 (204) to 0.0 (0). 14 of the Bridges players scored a goal this game. Thomas Cilauro kicked five goals, Eden Harris scored four while Elliot Murphy and Reece Richardson scored three each.

Research faced off against West Preston-Lakeside at their home ground and got a huge win for their team by 124 points, 27.20 (182) to 8.10 (58). Zachary Cochrane scored 13 goals throughout the game and was well supported by Lincoln Johnston and Jordan Groves, who both kicked a goal each. Zaed Taleb, William Chantry, Logan Pappas, Joshua Marsi and Phillip Harb were some of West Preston-Lakeside’s best players.

Kilmore White faced Montmorency at JJ Clancy Reserve, with the Blues going downy by 111 points, 1.2 (8) to 17.17 (119). Zac Webster scored six goals for Montmorency and was well supported by James Black who kicked five. Tyla Hall, Joel Chadwick, Byron Neilson, Max Buhagiar and Beau Kemp were some of the Two Blues best players.

Laurimar Teal faced Wallan at Laurimar Reserve, with Wallan taking home a big 2.3 (15) to 21.17 (143) win away from home. Darby Bishop led the charge up forward for Wallan with five goals. Liam McNeill and Oliver Norman scored four goals each, with McNeill one of the Magpies best players alongside Techin Kongpho. Lachlan Hendrie, Dominic Werner, Christian Roman and Jai Culph were some of Laurimar’s best players.

Mernda had a bye this week.
