A look back over last weekend’s action in the Under-16 to Under-18 junior competitions.
Yarrambat and Eltham kicked off the Under 18 Girls at Yarrambat War Memorial Park. The Bats maintained their lead, kicking 17 goals while keeping the Panthers scoreless to achieve a 115-point win. Rylee Mountney and Chloe Wyatt led the Batts, Wyatt alongside Emily Webb kicked four goals each. Eloise Sanders and Eleri McCausland fought hard for the Panthers.
Research faced Diamond Creek Womens at Plenty War Memorial Park. The Searchers were able to take away an 89-point win to remain undefeated this season. Katelyn Busuttil and Isabella Turner were standouts for the Searchers while Sierra Filippone kicked five goals. Roxie Dawson and Kiara Keenan gave their best for the Creekers, with Jayda Cooney kicking their only goal.
Mernda was out this week with a bye.
The Under 17.5 Boys began at Eltham Central Park with Eltham facing off against Laurimar. Eltham were able to hold their lead throughout the game to claim a 16-point win. Brian D’Intinosante and Archie McHugh were standouts from the Panthers, D’Intinosante kicking a staggering 5 goals for the game. James Gomez and Kade Weston fought hard for the Power.
Wallan clashed with South Morang at Greenhill Reserve. In a highly competitive game the Magpies took away a four-point win. The Magpies kept in front in the first half until the Lions hit the front by the end of the third only by one point. After kicking three goals in the last term the Magpies came away with the win. Bailey Anderson and Joshua Knight led the Magpies while Liam Ingwersen and Bayko Harris put in their best efforts for the Lions.
Diamond Creek met Mernda at Coventry Oval. The Creekers were able to maintain a substantial lead after kicking six goals in the first term to come away with a 61-point win. Cooper Fitt and Zac Versteegen were standouts from the Creekers with Jamie Alder kicking three goals. Justin Spadorcia and Jack Schembri gave it their all from the Demons.
Montmorency faced Yarrambat at Montmorency Park. The Bats kept a consistent lead, kicking three goals in each quarter to take away a 59-point win, maintaining their undefeated season. Thomas Harley and Bailey Smith fought hard for the Magpies. Archer Harvey kicked a staggering 6 goals for the bats as he maintains position as the leading goalkicker in the comp with a total of 37 goals thus far.
Whittlesea were out this week with a bye.
The Under 16 Girls (1) commenced at Plenty War Memorial Park with Diamond Creek Womens up against Research. The Creekers kept in front after an impressive second term, kicking four goals to solidify their lead, which allowed them to take away a 23-point win. Bonnie Leeson and Sarah Holmes fought hard for the Searchers while Lily Irvin, Charlotte Smith and Bianca Trupkovic all kicked two goals each for the Creekers.
First and second faced off at AE Cracknell Reserve. Yarrambat came away with a 67-point win while keeping Eltham down to two goals for the game, leading the Bats to remain undefeated. Addison Fitzpatrick and Grace Robinson led the Bats while Gracie Alexander and Paige Brand fought hard for the Panthers.
Mernda and Kilmore had a nailbiter at Waterview Reserve. The Blues were able to maintain a small lead in the first half, with scores equalizing at the end of the third term. Both teams scored two goals in the final term but with two extra behinds it was the Demons who came away with a two-point win. Amarni Bentley and Amelia Paxinos came in hard for the Blues while Shereen Eldeek kicked two goals for the Demons.
The Under 16 Girls (2) got started with Darebin facing Whittlesea at A.H. Capp Reserve. A strong game from the top seeded Eagles who took away a 28-point win. Both Izabella Pratt and Jamie Robinson kicked two for the Eagles while Skyla Robinson was a standout for the side. Larraine Dayuja and Ruby Schurmann fought hard for the Falcons.
Wallan made the trip to Montmorency Park to face Montmorency. Montmorency gave it their all, kicking 15 goals for the day while keeping Wallan scoreless. Chloe Hicks and Zoey Cummings were standouts from the home side, Hicks and Emmerson Ford both kicked three goals for the game. Lily Jones and Ruby-rose Jones from Wallan gave it their all.
Laurimar and South Morang faced off at Mill Park Lakes Recreation Reserve. The Lions generated 20 scoring shots throughout the game while keeping the Power to one. A great fight from the Lions led them to take away a 54-point win on their home turf. Cammryn Warke and Ava Galloway played hard for the Lions while Georgi White and Caitlin Poulton gave it their best for the Power.
The Under 16 Boys (1) kicked off at Eltham Central Park as Eltham fought South Morang. The Panthers had an impressive start, opening with seven goals. The Panthers only built on this lead to secure a 71-point win to continue their undefeated season. Joel Denny and Noah Fleischmann were standouts from the Panthers with Nicholas Spooner kicking three goals. Zack Nardozza and Ilias Vasiliadis gave it their all from the Lions with Alex Parisi kicking two goals.
Whittlesea and Yarrambat clashed at the Whittlesea Showgrounds. The Bats were able to maintain their lead which led them to secure a 15-point win. Noah Carroll and Bailey Barber gave their best efforts for the Eagles while Thomas Webb and Darcy Corr were standouts from the Bats with Ethan Thornton Williams kicking three goals.
Kilmore and Greensborough faced off at JJ Clancy Reserve. The Blues opened with six goals, kicking 19 goals overall to achieve a 98-point win. Nathan Halley and Owen Eldridge gave their best for the Borough while Frazer McMahon and Riley Lovell played hard for the Blues. Lachlan Peggie had an outstanding game, kicking seven goals for the home side.
Laurimar did battle with Diamond Creek at Coventry Oval. The Power opened strong, kicking six goals in the first term. The Creekers came back with another three goals throughout the game but unfortunately it wasn’t enough. The Power came away with a 25-point win to continue their undefeated season. Robbie King and Oscar Muldoon led the Power while Brodie Batt and Jordan Giamarelos gave it their all for the Creekers.
Kilmore and Kinglake got the Under 16 Boys (2) underway at JJ Clancy Reserve. It was a competitive first quarter, with the hosts leading by only 10 points. But the Blues were able to kick another 12 goals in the final three quarters to secure a 93-point win. Tyla Hall and Max Buhagiar were standouts from the Blues with Rafferty Magee kicking four goals for the side. Lochaden Graham and Luca Potter-Smith kicked the Lakers goals as they gave it their all.
Mernda and Wallan clashed at Greenhill Reserve. The Demons held their lead, sealing the game with five goals in the last term to win by 57 points. Jett Philips and Jordan Bianco played hard for the Demons with Benjamin Ridding kicking four goals. Xander Castle and Vincent Luci gave their best efforts for the Magpies.
Montmorency made their way to Laurimar Reserve to face the Power. The Magpies held a considerable lead throughout the game, eventually achieving a 42-point win. Richard Philip and Lachlan Hendrie gave their best for the Power with Dean Siderakis kicking two goals for the side. Spencer Parsons and Zac Webster were standouts for the Magpies with James Black having an outstanding game as he kicked five goals for the side.
Hurstbridge made their way to Research Park as they faced the Searchers. A tight first quarter with only a five-point difference in the Searchers favour. The Searchers only built off this, kicking a total of ten goals to secure a 55-point win. The Searchers had multiple goalkickers as well as Aslan Twomey and Morgan Taylor coming in hard. Finbarr O’Kane and Jack Edis gave their best efforts for the Bridges.
West-Preston Lakeside had the week off with the bye.
