The Northern Knights have unveiled their squad for the 2019 NAB League Girls competition, with 18 players coming from NFNL clubs.
The 2019 NAB League Girls competition kicks off this weekend, with the Knights aiming to go one better this season after losing the 2018 grand final to the Geelong Falcons.
Montmorency’s Gabrielle Newton has been named captain after last year taking out the Knights’ best and fairest award and earning Team of the Year selection. Laurimar’s Britney Gutknecht will be vice-captain.
Both Newton and Gutknecht have also been selected in the 2019 AFLW Under-18 Academy. Knights’ teammates Alyssa Bannan and Ellie McKenzie are members of the AFLW Under-17 Academy.
Marcus Abney-Hastings will continue as coach of the Northern Knights in 2019.
The under 18 competition has undergone an overhaul in 2019, with the NAB League replacing the long-standing TAC Cup. The revamp comes after the TAC had partnered the competition since its inception in 1992.
The NFNL congratulates all players selected in the 2019 Northern Knights NAB League Girls squad and wishes them the best of luck for the season ahead.
