Players wanted: Yarrambat

Yarrambat Junior Football Club is pleased to announce the merger of its under-16 and under-17 teams for 2014. The combined team will play in the NFL’s lower under-17s competition.

Training sessions are on Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm at the club’s home ground, Yarrambat War Memorial Park, located on Ironbark Rd, Yarrambat.

Come along and register or simply see coach Peter Densley at any training session to join in for a run. There is absolutely no obligation to sign up if you find that it’s not for you.

The merger of the two teams is a great outcome for Yarrambat JFC, with the club now represented in the under-17 competition for the first time in three years.

This wouldn’t have happened if not for the passion, patience, trust and support from existing players and parents, as well as the coaching groups led by Pete Dendley, Patty Curran, Dave Flegg and Ty Newton, plus senior committee people and assistance from Bundoora Football Club.

With forward planning, a pathway has been built with the Bundoora under-19s which should see a smooth transition for under-19s in coming years.

Under-17s football is a tremendous competition in the NFL, and we’re pleased to again be part of it.

Player spots in the team are limited but are still available for any individuals aged 15 or 16 on January 1.

Many events are run throughout the year for family and players, with a focus of continuing our family-club mantra.

Once again, individual players and mates looking for a run are asked to attend training with boots and runners on any Tuesday or Thursday from 6pm.

Clubs struggling to field an under-17 team who are looking to place a bunch of mates can contact our vice-president Dave Callaway on 0448 700 361, so Dave can organise an orderly transition.
