WAYNE Schultz has been appointed playing assistant coach of Northcote Park.

Schultz (pictured far left) has more than 100 games of VFL experience behind him, having had stints with North Ballarat, Port Melbourne, Bendigo Gold and, last season, Essendon.

Schultz has won best and fairests at Sebastapol, Castlemaine and Strathfieldsaye, in addition to winning the Michelson Medal in 2011 as the Bendigo Football Netball League Best and Fairest.

The 32-year-old is currently employed by Cricket Australia and will add a wealth of experience to the Cougars’ list.

Schultz will work alongside Northcote Park playing-coach Harmit Singh, who has last month named the replacement for 2012 premiership coach Jason Heatley.

Northcote Park will conduct a meet the coaches day this Sunday at Bill Lawry Oval, starting at 1P.M.

A barbeque and drinks will be provided for players, members and supporters. Northcote Cricket Club is also playing on the day.
