Published on Tuesday, March 22, 2022

The fixture for the opening round of grading in the 2022 NFNL women’s football season has been released.

The women’s football competition will feature 23 teams from 18 clubs across the NFNL.

Darebin, Diamond Creek Women’s, Heidelberg, Montmorency and West Preston-Lakeside will each field two teams in the 2022 season.

Grading will again take place over the opening four rounds, with all 23 teams to begin in one competition, before being placed into three divisions after four rounds of grading.

During grading rounds, teams will still be awarded four points for a win and two points for a draw, however percentage will not be carried over to the regular season ladder.

All grading games will have 15-minute quarters. Once grading has been finalised, Division 1 and Division 2 will move to 20-minute quarters, while Division 3 games will remain at 15-minute quarters.

The opening round of the 2022 NFNL Women’s season will be played across two days, with matches scheduled on Saturday April 2 and Sunday April 3.

The season kicks off with a twilight match between West Preston-Lakeside 1 and Eltham at J.E. Moore Park on Saturday April 2. The match will be played directly after the Melbourne Greyhounds Division 1 men’s football match between West Preston-Lakeside and Bundoora.

All remaining Round 1 grading matches will be played on Sunday 3 April, which includes double-headers at A.H. Capp Reserve and Plenty Park Oval.
