2023 Women’s Teams of the Year

The 2023 Women’s Teams of the Year have been selected.

The NFNL Teams of the Year are selected based on the following criteria:

• Nominations submitted by each senior coach within each division at the conclusion of the home and away season. Coaches must select a player for each position on the field.

• Coaches MVP votes

• Best and Fairest votes

The NFNL congratulates all players and coaches who have been selected in each of the three teams.

HEIDELBERG GOLF CLUB DIVISION 1 WOMEN’S

All clubs who competed in the Heidelberg Golf Club Division 1 Women’s competition have a representative in this year’s Team of the Year.

Minor premiers Montmorency have six players selected in the side. This is Madison Bayes, Shae Collinson and Chiara Scuderi’s second appearance in the Division 1 team while Emily Beanland’s selection makes it three straight appearances for the Magpies’ tall.

Eltham have five players featured in the final side while Grand Finalists Banyule have four representatives, with Drew Barnes having the unique honour of now making a Division 3, Division 2 and Division 1 Team of the Year over the last three seasons.

Darebin, Diamond Creek Women’s and West Preston-Lakeside each have two players in the side.

CLEANING MELBOURNE DIVISION 2 WOMEN’S

Six clubs are represented in the 2023 Cleaning Melbourne Division 2 Women’s Team of the Year.

Heidelberg have the most members in the side with six representatives, this includes Emily De Sando and Mia Tascone, who featured in the Division 1 team last year.

Five players come from St Mary’s, with co-captain Elyssa Ress claiming a third consecutive appearance in the Division 2 side.

Mernda have five players in the team, with Guila Ceravolo making a second straight appearance in a Team of the Year, while four players come from the Fitzroy Stars.

Greensborough have two players named in team with Whittlesea having one representative in the final side.

NFNL DIVISION 3 WOMEN’S

All eight sides that competed in the NFNL Division 3 women’s competition have at least one representative in the Team of the Year.

The top-two sides from the home and away season, Heidelberg West and Wallan, are well represented, combining to have 10 players named in the team.

This is Hawks forward Ashleigh Riley’s second appearance in a Team of the Year squad, with her first going back to 2019 when she represented Heidelberg, meanwhile Magpies captain Kelly Lennox has secured back-to-back appearances on the wing.

Darebin and North Heidelberg each have three players represented while Laurimar and Montmorency boast two members in the Team of the Year. Diamond Creek Women’s and West Preston-Lakeside both have one player in the squad.
