Junior Advisory Committee and Ambassador Program

PREAMBLE:

As our competition continues to grow and expand, both in participation and club numbers, it is critical that the values and integrity of the League is upheld by the clubs. However, with limited NFL resources available in terms of staff and board numbers, a constant and consistent NFL presence at matches is difficult to maintain. It is important that clubs feel connected to the NFL and in turn the NFL has an understanding of the topical issues confronting clubs and their members.

OBJECTIVE:

A Junior Advisory Committee will operate in the interests of the NFL’s junior clubs and endeavour to provide representation at matches on behalf of the NFL. Its objective will be to build rapport, discuss and evaluate needs and ensure behavioural expectations are being met.The Committee will provide an opportunity for clubs to have a direct conduit to the Board and have meaningful discussions when ideas and issues are most prevalent. The Committee will provide monthly reports to the NFL and will be canvassed for input on initiatives, changes and strategy. The embedded Ambassador program provides a significant increase in match-day representation and provides direct advocacy for clubs. The NFL can then act on recommendations made by Committee Members including resource assistance, council representation or remedial programs designed to alleviate potential problems.

COMMITMENT:

Committee members would be required to attend monthly meetings in-season and post-season and pre-season reviews. As part of the embedded Ambassador Program, each would be required to attend a minimum of 10 home and away rounds during the season. Ideally, each member would attend at least two venues during a round and work with 5-6 individual clubs on a regular basis. Members would also attend finals series matches in which their allocated clubs compete.

REPORTING:

The Ambassador Program would provide an avenue for a weekly evaluation of matches visited via a proforma submitted to the NFL electronically. Committee Members will not have the power to report players or request investigations, however they may be called upon to provide statements to investigations by the NFL and by the NFL only.

ELIGIBILITY:

Committee Members cannot be currently (at the time of taking on the position) serving on the committee or a match-day volunteer for an NFL club. Advisory Committee Members undertake the role in a voluntary capacity however the NFL will provide volunteers with all items required to undertake the role, including NFL apparel.

The NFL reserves the right to alter the structure of the committee, including appointees, at all times.

APPLICATION:

Applications to join the NFL Junior Advisory Committee can be made directly to the CEO Jeremy Bourke via email – Jeremy@nfl.org.au by November 30, 2012.

Positions will be officially ratified at the AGM on December 12.
