Whitcher has been in the coaching system for the past six years after a distinguished playing career in Victoria and Western Australia.

He played for Macleod Junior Football Club before joining the Northern Knights in the first year of the TAC Cup competition in 1992. Whitcher also played for Carlton and Collingwood in the old AFL reserves competition.

His senior playing career took him to Foster in Gippsland where he played in two premierships, two years with Montmorency, three years with South Fremantle in the WAFL and two years at East Burwood where he played in two Eastern Football League Division 1 premiership sides.

Whitcher returned to Montmorency where he finished his playing career before joining Panton Hill as an assistant coach for two seasons. He then moved to Eltham where he was an assistant coach for three seasons and this year he was the senior runner for Collingwood’s VFL team.

Whitcher has already commenced working with Ramsay during Macleod’s pre-season training at Ford Park in Bellfield.
