HEIDELBERG WEST will wear a heritage jumper when it celebrates its Past Players Day against Parkside on Saturday.

Fresh from securing their first win of the 2014 season following a runaway 17-point victory over St Mary’s at Whatmough Park, the Hawks will this week celebrate their club’s history.

All past and present players and supporters are welcome to attend the festivities at Heidelberg Park.

To mark the occasion, Heidelberg West’s senior players will be donning the club’s former colours when they step out for battle against Parkside

The Hawks will wear a commemorative maroon and gold jumper, colours worn by the club between 1936 – 1985, before changing to the gold and brown stripes of today’s Hawks.

The jumper was worn when the club won its sole Division 1 premiership in 1941. Competition was suspended for four years following the flag due to World War II, before resuming again in 1946.

During the senior game a silent auction will be held with all senior jumpers available to be bid on.
