2014 Junior Championships Kick Off

The Northern Football League’s five junior representative sides begin competing in the 2014 National Sports Museum AFL Victoria Junior Championships on Wednesday night.

In season 2014, the NFL has two under-14 sides competing in the Championships, along with two under-15 teams and an under-16 girls team.

Tonight’s matches are as scheduled:

Under-14 Division 1: NFL v RDFNL at LaTrobe University, Bundoora from 6:15pm
Under-14 Division 2: NFL v RDFNL at Romsey Park, Romsey from 6:15pm
Under-15 Division 1: NFL v RDFNL at LaTrobe University, Bundoora from 8:15pm
Under-15 Division 2: NFL v RDFNL at Romsey Park, Romsey from 8:15pm
Under-16 Girls: NFL v YJFL (1) at Montmorency Football Ground from 6:15pm

Following Wednesday nights matches, each team will compete again on Saturday, June 7 and Monday, June 9.

The NFL’s under-15 and under-14 Division 1 boys teams will play the Yarra Junior Football League (YJFL) at Bulleen Park, Bullen on June 7, before meeting the Eastern Football League  (EFL) at Eltham Central Park on June 9.

The under-15 and under-14 Division 2 boys teams are drawn against the South East Juniors (SEJ) at Yarrambat Football Ground on June 7, before playing the EFL at Walker Park, Nunawading on June 9.

Meanwhile, the under-16 girls team will play a combined Western Region and Essendon District Football League team at Goonawarra Reserve, Gooonawarra on June 7, before meeting the YJFL (2) at Bulleen Park, Bullen on June 9.

As per years gone by, each boys team is drawn into a four-team pool where they will play three round-robin matches. The two highest ranked teams from the round robin matches will then compete in the Grand Final on Saturday, July 21 at Shepley Oval, Dandenong.

The under-16 girls team is drawn into a six-team pool, where once again the two top ranked teams from the round robin matches will compete in the Grand Final on July 21.
