AFLW flag in sight for Northern trio

Three former NFNL juniors could feature in the 2018 AFLW Grand Final.

Deanna Berry, Bailey Hunt and Kirsty Lamb are all in line to play for the Western Bulldogs in Saturday’s premiership-decider against the Brisbane Lions at Ikon Park.

The trio were part of the Bulldogs’ thrilling Round 7 victory over Melbourne at VU Whitten Oval last Saturday.

The two-point win ensured the Bulldogs finished the regular season in first spot on the ladder and earned them a place in their first AFLW grand final.

A product of the Mernda Football Club, Berry has played five matches for the Bulldogs in 2018 after crossing from Melbourne.

Hunt has played in all but two of the Bulldogs matches since the commencement of the AFLW competition last year.

The small defender began playing football at Montmorency, where she played in the under-18 and under-19 girls competitions, before moving into the Magpies’ senior team.

Lamb has been one of the Bulldogs most consistent performers across the season, averaging 13 disposals and five tackles a game.

She began her football career with Yarrambat before switching to Diamond Creek Women’s.
