South Morang is the 15th community in Australia that can now connect to the NBN – which will provide high speed internet connection to Australian homes and business.

To highlight the faster speed internet and more reliable service and connection, Harvey hosted a clinic for young South Morang and Epping footballers which was streamed live to AFL Auskick ambassador, Robert ‘Dipper’ DiPierdomencio sitting at the iPrimus headquarters in the city.

Dipper was able to watch the clinic in high quality and interact with Harvey and the young footballers – outlining the endless possibilities the NBN can provide for scouting and coaching in Australia.

Speaking after the clinic, Senator Conroy, the minister for broadband and communications, said the NBN would provide great benefits for athletes in the northern region of Melbourne and around Australia.

“Today we’ll see an NBN-enabled high-speed broadband future being used to train the AFL’s future champions,” he said.

“The NBN will be able to help our athletes, particularly our young and upcoming athletes, access the very best coaches and the very best sporting professionals no matter where you live in Australia or around the world.

“The possibilities of the NBN for scouting and for world-class coaching are now more effective and enhanced.”

Senator Conroy, pictured above with NFL CEO Jeremy Bourke, said the rollout of the NBN is on target, with construction to commence or be completed for 758,000 homes around Australia by the end of this calendar year.

The NBN will provide internet speeds seven-times faster than the current wireless technology and a much more reliable service at the same price for households.

As well as participating in a football clinic with Harvey, the young South Morang and Epping footballers also had their photo taken with the 2012 AFL premiership cup which was on display as part of its national tour ahead of Saturday’s AFL Grand Final between Hawthorn and Sydney.
