Bundoora 7 have moved to within touching distance of the top four in Section 6 of the 2022-23 NFNL senior summer netball competition, after fighting off a late Thomastown 4 surge to claim a six-goal win at La Trobe Sports Stadium.

The Bulls were able to stretch out to a lead of nine majors at half time before the Bears reduced the margin to six at three quarter time. But Bundoora were able to keep their nerve and maintain that six goal advantage in their 29-23 triumph.

It’s the Bulls’ third consecutive victory, this one being their most impressive after pushing past the top of the table Bears, who have since slid to second. Bundoora remain in fifth but only by percentage.

The Bulls had an impressive quartet of shooters on the night with Tahlia Infantino (nine majors), Izzy Miseski (eight), Ashriti Sharma (seven), and Millie Collodetti (five) all complementing each other in the attacking half. Thomastown’s Alisha Sims led the way for her side with 12 goals.

Bundoora won the opening term by six goals to four before their defensive pressure began to crumble the Thomastown defence in the following quarter. The Bulls took advantage, registering an 11 goal to four term to take their lead to nine at half time.

Thomastown started to find themselves back in the game soon after the main break with some clean full court transitions, while an intercept from goalkeeper Tamara Geddes early in the second half shifted the momentum to the Bears’ favour.

The Bulls weren’t going to make their fightback easy however, as they were able to counter their opponent’s quick movements with some goals of their own, although Thomastown still won the quarter by three to set up a fascinating fourth term.

Both sides upped the intensity coming out of the last break with the Bears making one final push to keep their spot on top of the ladder intact.

They did get to within distance at times throughout the quarter, however the Bulls were able to match their opponent’s intensity, eventually regaining their six goal three quarter time lead on their way to an impressive triumph.
