Greensborough Football Netball Club has announced that senior men’s coach Saade Ghazi will not continue in the role in season 2024.

The decorated VFA/VFL legend joined the club ahead of the 2022 campaign after spending time with Williamstown’s VFL side, as well as WRFL club Altona and Avondale Heights in the EDFL.

His time at the Boro was Ghazi’s second stint as a senior coach in the NFNL, after spending three seasons as a playing coach with Epping between 2001 and 2003.

Ghazi took the Boro to a Melbourne Greyhounds Division 1 elimination final in 2022, but just missed out on back-to-back finals appearances this year, as Greensborough finished in sixth position with an 9-9 record.

A club statement said:

During the last two seasons Saade has demonstrated outstanding commitment, dedication and passion for the role at a time when we had an influx of new and exciting talent to our club.

Saade has actively encouraged and promoted a significant number of our U19 players up to the senior level that will see the club reap the benefits of in seasons to come.

We wish to acknowledge Saade’s contribution to our club and thank him for all his hard work, persistence and positivity throughout what was a challenging season where our senior side narrowly missed out on playing finals football.

From everyone at the GFNC, we like to wish Saade all the very best for the future and thank you for your contribution to our football club.

The club will now begin the search for a head coach to lead us in 2024 and beyond.
