Heatley to remain with Bulldogs in 2024

Published on Friday, September 8, 2023

Jason Heatley will continue as senior men’s coach of the North Heidelberg Sporting Club in season 2024.

The club confirmed his re-appointment on Wednesday evening, days before his side face Montmorency in the Melbourne Greyhounds Division 1 first semi-final.

In his first full season in charge last year, he took the Bulldogs to a sixth placed finish, just six points shy of a spot in the top five.

Meanwhile in this year’s campaign, North Heidelberg regularly challenged the top sides of the competition for a double chance spot before finishing in fourth. They defeated Hurstbridge in last week’s elimination final.

Heatley is a best and fairest winner at the club and was also a member of the 2005 Division 1 premiership team.

Following successful coaching stints at Heidelberg and Northcote Park, Heatley returned to the Bulldogs as coach in 2020.

A club statement said:

The North Heidelberg Sporting Club is pleased to advise our members, sponsors, junior affiliated partners & football fans in general of the reappointment of current senior coach Jason Heatley for season 2024.

Jason’s career as a coach has many team achievements & since his return to the Bulldogs in 2020 he has demonstrated total dedication to the role with a progressive & ongoing transformation of the playing list leading to finals participation in season 2023.

Possessing excellent player management & leadership skills & empowering those around him were the key attributes the club identified in Jason remaining in the role beyond this season.

It is an exciting period for the club with the Bulldogs currently involved in finals & we see Jason’s reappointment as a vital ingredient for sustained success in the future.
