Cole coached the club for five years between 2005 and 2009 and took the Magpies to the Grand Final in 2008.

He has coached Greensborough for the past two seasons and in 2011 led the Boro to their first Division 1 finals appearance in 20 years.

Montmorency welcomed back the club legend in a statement released this morning.

“Montmorency Football Netball Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Bryan ‘Jack’ Cole as senior coach for season 2013,” the statement said.

“Bryan is a former premiership player, president and coach of Montmorency and one of the club’s favourite sons.

“Following a thorough interview process, Bryan was identified amongst a field of high quality candidates as the ideal man to take the reins for next season.

“His coaching methodology and philosophies have developed strongly during this time and they greatly impressed the interview panel.

“Bryan’s off-field team for 2013 will include club legend Lee Adamson and TAC Cup assistant coach Andrew Shakespeare.”

Montmorency president Damien Long said Cole had already met with the club’s leadership group to begin planning for the 2013 season.

“Bryan has already had a productive meeting with the leadership group, which was very well received,” Long said.

“The club looks forward to Bryan developing our young talent and putting in place structures and game plans that will allow the boys to take that next step forward.”

The statement thanked departing coach Fabian Carelli and his support staff who led the club for three seasons.

Carelli guided the Magpies to the minor premiership this season but was unable to break the club’s 33-year premiership drought.
