Last week the South Morang Football and Netball Club participated in the Team Lace Up campaign run by Step Back. THINK.

The purpose of this organisation is to raise awareness surrounding the alarming statistics relating to increased incidences of social violence in the community.

The organisation is not-for-profit and any funds raised are put towards education programs.

AFL clubs such as Fremantle Dockers, Carlton and GWS all participated in Team Lace Up over last weekend’s matches.

In honour of him those who have lost their lives and for those who have been affected by social violence, South Morang encouraged members to actively promote awareness and raise funds for this very important cause.

The orange laces were a statement to Step Back and Think before engaging in anti-social violent behaviour.

Over the weekend, all teams from seniors to under-9s, womens, and netball teams donned the orange laces and raised funds to assist in education programs for the Step Back Think cause.

The South Morang community raised in excess of $1,300. The team who raised the highest was the South Morang Under-15 Blue team, with a total of $270 demonstrating they are a champion team on and off the field.

It was testament to the great South Morang community spirit that every team participated.
