The Northern Football Netball League officially welcomed Bronwyn Neeson and Scott Walker to its Board of Directors at its 2017 Annual General Meeting.

Both had been serving on the Board throughout 2017, with Neeson seconded into Board position No. 8 in February, while Walker had been sitting in Board position No. 5 as a casual vacancy since February.

NFNL chief executive Peter McDougall said Neeson and Walker would be valuable additions to the league’s Board.

“We welcome both Bronwyn and Scott to the NFNL Board and we look forward to their contribution to the league,” McDougall said.

“Both bring different skill sets which will further enhance the dynamic of the league’s Board of Directors.”

Neeson is an accomplished senior manager with a 16-year career spanning corporate, not-for-profit and the university sector.

She specialises in corporate social responsibility, stakeholder engagement, event and project management, influencing and negotiation, strategic relationship building and fundraising.

Neeson brings a wealth of Board experience, having served on the PricewaterhouseCooopers Global Corporate Responsibility Board, Camp Quality Board, UTS Rowing Club Board, UTS North’s Athletics Board and UTS Balmain Water Polo Board.

She moved to Melbourne in January 2016 to take up the role of Manager, Sport Partnerships at La Trobe University.

The position sees her cultivating, securing and managing sport partnerships which can enhance teaching and learning, research, student experience, community awareness and outreach, as well as set strategic direction and manage the vision for the La Trobe Sport.

Neeson is an enthusiastic sport participant and fan, who has played a high level of netball. She also enjoys participating in other sports and recreation on a regular basis.

Walker is a qualified town planner who has worked in a range of senior jobs within councils.

He currently serves as the Director of City Development at Banyule Council and is responsible for one of four directorates and 160 staff.

Walker has a long background in football. He played juniors with Greensborough Football Club, before playing over 300 open-age games at Panton Hill Football Club.

He has previously spent a decade in committee roles at Panton Hill, including serving as President for three years. He has also served as a senior assistant coach and reserves coach with the Redbacks.

Walker is also a member of the league’s football umpiring panel and has served as a field umpire for three years.

NFNL Chairman Dean Philpots announced at the AGM he would be stepping down from his position, after serving on the Board for 11 years.

Vice-Chairman Michael McLellan will assume the Chairman position until February’s Board meeting, where the Board of Directors will vote on the league’s new Chairman.
