NFNL finalises representative netball teams

UPDATE | The Northern Football Netball League has announced its open and under-19 netball teams to take on the Geelong Football Netball League.

The NFNL’s two representative netball teams will take on the best from Geelong at Highton’s Queen Park on Saturday May 18.

The matches will be played alongside the NFNL’s senior men’s and women’s football matches against the GFNL, as part of the AFL Victoria Community Championships.

Both NFNL netball teams will be looking to continue unbeaten streaks that extend back to the introduction of representative netball in 2015.

This year’s representative matches provide a great challenge against strong opposition and on outdoor courts.

The NFNL has only once previously played on outdoor courts, when both the open and under-19 teams scored wins over the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League at Rye’s R.J. Rowley Oval in 2016.

The open team will be coached by Julie Hibberd for the second-consecutive season, with 2018 representative captain Bec Colwell to serve as assistant coach.

Jacqui Harrington has taken the coaching reins of the under-19 team from Sharon Ashworth, and will be assisted by Jacinta Tonkin – who continues in the role.

The NFNL congratulates all players selected in the representative netball teams and wishes them the best of luck in the upcoming games against the GFNL.

We also thank all players who trialled for team selection over the past two months.
