NNL names representative teams

The Northern Netball League has named its representative teams ahead of its clash with the Eastern Football League on Friday May 12.

The league has named a 10-player open side, along with a 10-player under-19 team for next Friday’s matches at Parade College.

Two emergencies have also been selected for each of the teams.

Eight clubs from the NNL are represented across the two squads..

Speaking to NFL.org.au last month, NNL head coach Brooke George said the league had assembled a strong line-up for the representative games.

“We think that we’ve got a really balanced squad,” George told NFL.org.au.

“A lot of players there are able to play in more than one position, so it is handy particularly in these rep games when you don’t know what you’re going to be faced with.”

George will work alongside open coach Jacinta Tonkin and under-19 coach Sharon Ashworth.

The under-19 match will commence at 7:15pm, with the open match to follow at 8:15pm.

The NNL will be seeking to maintain its perfect interleague record when it hosts the best of the East at Parade College.

The NNL’s open and under-19 teams both won their two representative matches last year.

Both sides recorded comfortable wins over the Southern Football Netball League, before backing up with victories over the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League the following weekend.

The NNL also recorded two representative wins against the Southern Football Netball League in 2015, when A-Grade and B-Grade open teams took to the court.
