Sampson was officially elected as a Board Director at last night’s NFNL Annual General Meeting. He will fill the vacant position left by Stella Pruscino – who stood down after six years on the Board.

Sampson has been involved in the Mutual sector for nearly three decades and currently serves as General Manager of Woolworths Employees’ Credit Union. He was previously the CEO of Plenty Community Credit Union for 20 years.

During this period, he also filled positions as a Director of the Victorian IDPC and National Director and Victorian/Tasmanian Chairman of the AM Institute – where he liaised closely with local politicians at State and Federal levels.

Sampson has extensive training and knowledge in Accounting and Business Studies, a Diploma in Financial Services and holds a Fellowship of InStil and Australian Management Institute, as well as FINSIA.

He has been a Justice of the Peace for 42 years, Chairman of the Small Australian Mutual (SAM) group and Small Credit Union Forum (SCUF) group, as well as a Past President, Director and Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) of Rotary.

Sampson also brings extensive football knowledge, having previously served as Secretary and Sponsorship Manager at Diamond Creek Football and Netball Club.

NFNL Chairman Michael McLellan said Sampson was a welcome addition to the Board.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Steve to the Board of the NFNL,” McLellan said.

“We are looking forward to Steve bringing his wealth of knowledge and experience within community sport to assist the NFNL to continue grow as a league.”

Sampson joins Michael McLellan (Chairman), Scott Walker (Vice-Chairman), Nicolina Lademann, Bronwyn Neeson, Jeff Parkes and Diana Pettie on the NFNL’s Board.
