Heath Scotland has been announced as the senior men’s coach of the Bundoora Football Netball Club for season 2024.

Scotland joins the club after taking Deer Park to the Division 1 premiership in the EDFL in 2023.

After his storied AFL playing career at Collingwood and Carlton, Scotland also had coaching roles at AFL and VFL level.

He replaces Michael Ryan in the role, who led the Bulls to consecutive Division 1 Grand Finals.

A club statement said:

The Bundoora Football Netball Club is excited to announce the appointment of Heath Scotland as its Senior Coach for the 2024 season.

Heath joins Bundoora after a stellar AFL playing career that included 268 games for Collingwood and Carlton.

Heath’s accolades include two Grand Finals for Collingwood, an All-Australian representative in 2011, winner of Carlton’s Best and Fairest in 2012 and was part of the Carlton Senior Leadership Group between 2007 and 2012.

Since his retirement from AFL, Heath has held coaching roles at North Melbourne, Port Melbourne and the Northern Bullants.

“We are thrilled to attract such a quality person in Heath Scotland,” President Paul King said.

“Heath has had an exceptional AFL career and transitioned to coaching upon his retirement.

“He has extensive coaching experience having held AFL / VFL Assistant and Development roles and more recently was the architect of multiple premierships in local football.

“We are excited to have someone of Heath’s calibre working with our coaches and players and believe his knowledge of the game and his commitment to development will be ideal for our Club.

“We welcome Heath and his family to the club.”
