Senior Teams | May 6-7 | Northern Football Netball League

The selected teams are in for this week’s NFNL senior football matches.

All senior men’s teams are permitted to select a 23rd Player for this weekend’s matches. The 23rd Player must be an under-19 eligible player and can’t have previously played more than two senior games.

Ahmed Saad makes his long-awaited return from injury for West Preston-Lakeside in their trip to Banyule. The premiership co-captain will return alongside Garrett McDonagh following his time with Essendon’s AFL side. He plays his first game for the club since 2021.

The Bears have made four changes with Reuben Blackmore-Moore and Adam Carafa headlining the inclusions.

Heidelberg make five changes to the side that fell short to Montmorency last week. The Tigers have named Sean Martin to return ahead of their clash with Greensborough on Saturday. Joseph Ayton-Delaney returns for the Boro.

Co-captain Sam Binion is back for Montmorency in their huge battle with Bundoora, but the Magpies won’t have Jake Spencer at their disposal. The Bulls welcome back Jackson Bowne and Peter McEvoy.

Jhye Baddeley-Kelly headlines the inclusions for North Heidelberg when they host Macleod, meanwhile the Roos will miss goalkickers Michael Hurley and Luke Joyce.

In a boost for Whittlesea, Blake Watson is set to play his first game of the year as the Eagles look to open their account in 2023 when they face Hurstbridge.

Thomastown have made four changes following last week’s defeat to Eltham while their Saturday opponents in Watsonia welcome back Jacob Pickett but will miss Teague Van Zwienen.

Epping will be without key players Damon Hollow and Luke Lirosi ahead of their clash with Eltham, the Panthers will miss Lane Sinclair and Bradyn Taglieri.

Ahead of their Saturday night fixture, Diamond Creek won’t have Jacob Booth or Matthew Lewis in the side as they take on a South Morang outfit who remain unchanged.

Leigh Gilbert returns for Kinglake as they look to make it 4-0 against Lalor, while Eden Simpson comes back into the Old Eltham Collegians line up ahead of an important clash with Heidelberg West.

Selected teams for the NFNL Women’s competition will be named in the lead-up to Sunday’s matches.
