A number of local derbies will kick-start the 2014 NFL Division 2 season.
The new season will commence on Saturday, April 5, with the opening round to contain the following fixtures:
Lalor v Epping @ Lalor Reserve
North Heidelberg v Fitzroy Stars @ Shelley Reserve
Diamond Creek v Hurstbridge @ Coventry Oval
Panton Hill v Mernda @ Cracknell Reserve
Round 2 also contains some interesting match-ups, with Fitzroy Stars to host Diamond Creek, while recently-relegated Epping takes on 2013 Division 3 premier Panton Hill.
One of the most anticipated games of the season will take place in Round 7, when North Heidelberg hosts Epping. It will be the first meeting between the sides since the epic 2012 Grand Final that saw the Blues prevail by four points.
Division 2 players will enjoy three breaks throughout the 2014 season. The first takes place over the Easter period, followed by a break over the Queen’s birthday weekend, then another between Round 12 and 13 on Saturday, July 12.
The final round of the season IS scheduled for August 23, with finals to again run over a three-week period, ending with the Grand Final on September 13.
