2020 under-19 opening round fixture released

Published on Friday, March 6, 2020

The fixture for the opening round of the 2020 NFNL under-19 football competition has been released.

Twenty-one sides will compete in the under-19s competition in 2020, marking the third season in succession that team numbers have increased in the under-19 age group since the introduction of grading in 2018.

Grading will again take place over the opening four rounds, with all 21 teams to begin in one competition, before being separated into two divisions after Round 4.

During grading rounds, teams will still be awarded four points for a win and two points for a draw, however percentage will not be carried over to the regular season ladder.

Following grading, Division 1 will feature 10 teams, while 11 teams will compete in Division 2. Both divisions will have a top-five finals system.

Banyule and Eltham have each entered two under-19s teams, while Kilmore returns to the under-19 competition for the first time since 2016. North Heidelberg will enter a standalone team after last year merging a team with Lalor, which competed as Bulldog Bloods.

Please note: Fixtures for the remaining three rounds of grading will be released by 5pm Monday ahead of each round.
