2023 NFNL Junior Representative Program Updates

Published on Tuesday, February 7, 2023

The NFNL is pleased to announce multiple updates to the Junior Representative program for 2023 as well the appointment of our head coaches for the AFL Victoria Metro Junior Develpoment Series.

Following the try outs phase, which will take place on Sunday February 26 and Sunday March 5, 48 players will be selected to be part of a revamped 12-week NFNL Junior Representative Development Program in the under-14 boys, under-15 boys and under-15 girls age groups.

In addition to team training ahead of the AFL Victoria MJDS Series, the NFNL has appointed a number of external specialist skill coaches in the program which will provide players with on and off field skill development throughout the program. A Northern Knights Talent ID and Development Coach will also be actively involved in training and developing the key components of the program.

All final squad players will then be given the opportunity to represent the NFNL in the AFL Victoria MJDS series which will revert back to a three-game series. Games will take place on Wednesday May 31 (night match), Saturday June 10 and Monday June 12.

These are changes that we believe will ensure all players leave the program as more skilled, educated and better players when they return to their clubs.

The NFNL is also pleased to announce the following coaches for the 2023 Junior Develpoment Series Program under the guidance of Director of Coaching Rick Le Gassick and Northern Knights Futures Development coach Brett Potter.

Under 15 Girls A – Ari Sciacca (Research)

The NFNL congratulates all coaches and staff members on their appointments and looks forward to a brilliant program in 2023.
