The 2024 Women’s Teams of the Year have been selected.
The NFNL Teams of the Year are selected based on the following criteria:
• Nominations submitted by each senior coach within each division at the conclusion of the home and away season. Coaches must select a player for each position on the field.
• Coaches MVP votes
• Best and Fairest votes
The NFNL congratulates all players who have been selected in each of the three teams.

HEIDELBERG GOLF CLUB DIVISION 1 WOMEN’S
All clubs who competed in the Heidelberg Golf Club Division 1 Women’s competition have a representative in this year’s Team of the Year.
Minor premiers St Mary’s have six players selected in the side with co-captain Elyssa Rees earning a fourth consecutive appearance. It will be Sarah Johnston’s third selection in a Team of the Year and the second appearance for her Burra teammates Megan Girolami, Georgia Kitchell, Brigid McEntee and Emmison Zealley.
Fellow Grand Finalists Diamond Creek Women’s and preliminary finalists Heidelberg both have four players represented.
This is Creekers forward Linda Thorp’s fifth Division 1 Team of the Year selection, while Tigers midfielder Mia Tascone has earnt a third straight appearance.
Banyule and Darebin each have three players represented with Bears winger Megan Barnes and Falcons defender Claire Hardi being featured again after their 2023 selections.
Montmorency had two players selected with both Madeline Gallagher and Ella Spark making their first appearances in the side.
CLEANING MELBOURNE DIVISION 2 WOMEN’S
Nine clubs are represented in the 2024 Cleaning Melbourne Division 2 Women’s Team of the Year.
Grand Finalists Ivanhoe and Lower Plenty have the most members in the side with four representatives apiece. Previous Team of the Year members Shae Audley (Division 1, 2021) and Bree Unthank (Division 2, 2022) earnt spots for Lower Plenty this season.
Three players come from top five sides Thomastown and West Preston-Lakeside. It’s a third consecutive appearance for Chiara Nardo, but her first for the Bears.
Following her 2023 appearance, Stephanie Briggs was one of two Fitzroy Stars players to be in the 2024 team, while Mernda also earn two spots in the side, with Guilia Ceravolo making it three straight selections.
Greensborough have two players named in team with Darebin and Whittlesea each having one representative in the final side.
NFNL DIVISION 3 WOMEN’S
Eight sides that competed in the NFNL Division 3 women’s competition have at least one representative in the Team of the Year.
This edition will see 16 players picked in starting spots, to coincide with the NFNL’s recent rule change regarding the number of players on field in the Division 3 senior women’s competition.
Hurstbridge and South Morang have the most representatives with four each. All eight players have made an appearance in a Team of the Year side for the first time.
Grand Finalists Heidelberg West and Panton Hill each have three players in the side. Redbacks defender Teagan Sheldon earnt a second straight selection after doing so last year with Wallan, while Chloe Rowan and Crystal Grech also made it back-to-back mentions in the final side.
Diamond Creek Women’s and North Heidelberg each had two members representing their clubs, with Bentley Butler (DCW) and Teresa Cassar (NH) securing a second ever selection.
Epping and Laurimar both had one player selected.
