A statement released by the club on Tuesday morning said: “Lochy brings to Watsonia leadership and enthusiasm and a driven nature to succeed in Watsonia gaining respect back.”

Dornauf joins from Heathcote where he tied for the club’s best and fairest award in a season it featured in the preliminary final in the Heathcote District Football League.

In 2011 he was also named best and fairest while playing for La Trobe University F.C.

He grew up in Tasmania where he helped run his family’s dairy farm.

Dornauf said he was excited by the by opportunity of making Watsonia a force again after winning just three games over the past two seasons.“I’m looking forward to coaching Watsonia and being part of the move forward,” he said.

“Pre-season training commences mid-November and it will be disciplined and driven as we build towards the 2013 season.”

Dornauf will be in attendance at Watsonia’s AGM this Friday night at the A.K. Lines Reserve clubrooms to meet all players, members and supporters. The AGM commences at 7pm.
