Gilbee, who last year retired from AFL football after 206 games with the Western Bulldogs, was considered to be one of the elite kicks in the AFL over the past decade.
The event focused on the fundamentals of kicking and provided all RJFC players – ranging from the under-9s to under-17s age groups – the opportunity to have their kicking action reviewed and videoed.
The footage will assist coaches in analysis of techniques and to develop improvement strategies throughout the 2013 season.
Gilbee stressed the importance of having a good kick to all those in attendance.
“Kicking is the most important skill in Australian football,” he said.
“The basic skill of football should be taught at a young age and any faults rectified. It is very important players learn the right technique.
“It is also most important that young footballers are taught to use both feet.”
The RJFC coaches were provided with a unique opportunity to learn advanced kicking drills by Lindsay, aimed to improve a player’s ability to kick under pressure, target accuracy and kicking from set positions.
Also in attendance were accredited AFL coaches from the elite Kicking Academy.
