All eyes will be on Shepparton from today, Monday May 6, to Friday May 10, for the 2013 AFL Youth Girls Championships.
For five exciting days the most talented under-18 female footballers in the country will represent six state representative sides in search of the coveted national title.
The 2013 Championships will see a Victoria Country team – that includes five girls from Tasmania – participate for the first time, pitted against Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, NSW/ACT and Victoria Metro.
Victoria, playing as a combined Metro and Country outfit, has won all three of the previous Youth Girls Championships and the Big V, despite being split into separate sides this year, is again expected to figure heavily when the medals are decided on Friday.
The Vic Country/Tasmania team opens its campaign under lights at Deakin Reserve against NSW/ACT on Monday at 5:20pm, while Victoria Metro tackles Queensland at 3:40pm.
