LEIGH Cole will coach West Preston-Lakeside in 2015.

Cole, a senior assistant to Gary Ayres at VFL club Port Melbourne this year, was appointed to the Roosters’ top job on Wednesday.

As well as being Port Melbourne’s forward coach in 2014, Cole also has previous senior coaching experience with Ivanhoe in the Victorian Amateur Football Club (VAFA).

In 2012 he guided Ivanhoe to the VAFA Division 3 Grand Final, where his side was defeated by Yarra Valley.

Cole replaces Frank Raso after two years as senior coach at J.E. Moore Park.
Raso had re-signed for a third season before accepting a development role with the Northern Knights.

West Preston-Lakeside only narrowly missed playing Division 1 finals in 2014, finishing in sixth place, just two points outside the top five.
