The NFL and VAFA have announced their playing squads ahead of their clash at the AFL Victoria Metropolitan Championships on Saturday.
The top two ranked leagues in metropolitan Melbourne will lock horns at Carlton’s IKON Park at 3:25pm.
The VAFA currently holds the No.1 ranking, however a win on Saturday would see the NFL take the mantle.
Both leagues have named extended squads for the game, with only 24 players permitted to play on match day.
The NFL’s 28-man squad contains 13 players who represented the league in last year’s win over the Essendon District Football League.
Amongst those set to pull on the NFL jumper again are Jesse Donaldson, Matthew Dennis, Nick Carter and Patrick Fitzgerald, who also represented Vic Metro in last year’s win over Vic Country.
Of the VAFA’s 30-man squad, 13 players played in the corresponding match last year against the Eastern Football League, including both captain Mathew Handley and vice-captain Brendan Iezzi.
