It was the final week of the regular season in Division 2, with South Morang, Thomastown and Hurstbridge locked in a three-way battle to avoid relegation. Meanwhile, at the top of the table unbeaten Epping took on red-hot North Heidelberg in a preview of next week’s second semi final.
Division 1 also hosted a number of big games with ladder-leader Montmorency travelling to Bill Lawry Oval to take on Northcote Park, while Lower Plenty had to beat West Preston-Lakeside to keep alive hopes of remaining in the top flight.
