Bears appoint Hatzis as women’s coach

Thomastown Football Netball Club has announced the appointment of David Hatzis as inaugural senior women’s coach for the 2024 campaign.

With the Bears looking to establish a senior women’s side for the upcoming women’s football season, the club has selected Hatzis to take the inaugural role as senior women’s coach.

He spent this season with Mernda’s senior women’s side as an assistant and has previously served in stints as a junior coach.

A club statement said:

With the exciting news of launching our inaugural Senior Women’s Football team, it is with pleasure that we annouce David Hatzis as the Senior Women’s Coach for the upcoming 2024 season!

David is no stranger to Thomastown, as his two sons Ross and Eric have been a major asset to our club over the last 2 seasons. With a wealth of experience in coaching, David has been shaping young talent and teams for years:

2012-2016: Coach at Mernda Juniors, taking charge of the U9s to U13s.
2018-2019: Assistant Coach at Yarrambat for the Under 16s.
2023: Assistant Coach at Mernda Senior Women’s Division 2, guiding them to the semi-finals!

His experience is sure to make a significant impact on our club. Welcome to Thomastown FNC, David! Together, we’re poised for an amazing season in 2024.
