Banyule 2 kept their spot inside the top four of the Cleaning Melbourne Division 4 ladder after a solid 10-goal win against Broadford 1 at La Trobe Sports Stadium 5.
After drawing last week, the Bears finished the job off this week and scored a hard-fought 31 goals to 21 goal win against the Roos after four intense quarters of high-pressure play.
By the end of the night Banyule 2 kept their spot at fourth place on the Cleaning Melbourne Division 4 ladder. Broadford 1 on the other hand now sit three spots below Banyule 2.
Ivy Beveridge, Banyule 2’s leading goalscorer so far this seasn, scored a convincing 16 goals this game for her team.
Mollie Dore, Bailee Ellis, Tayah Carafa, Bridget Bult all played exceptionally well for Banyule 2, their defence against Broadford 1 was strong and they smoothly moved the ball across the together in teams, keeping Broadford 1 on edge.
Ebony Heers, Brylee Tolson and Leah O’Dell stayed consistent throughout the game and played well for Broadford 1.
There was a lot of ball contact and fast-paced movement from both teams through-out the whole game. Banyule 2 worked together in teams to surround Broadford 1 which allowed them to get a hold of the ball and convert goals seamlessly.
The Roos started off strong by scoring in the first couple minutes, however Banyule 2 responded quickly with 3 consecutive goals.
Nevertheless, that didn’t stop Broadford 1, they ended the first quarter by scoring a goal in the last four seconds, equalising the scores at 6-6.
Broadford 1 struggled to convert some goals, but that didn’t stop them from continuously trying, the scores were back-to-back in the first two quarters.
Broadford scored two goals in the last 50 seconds of the second quarter, with Banyule 2 quickly responded in the last seconds.
The game was very competitive by both teams; they both showed their defensive sides especially in the last two quarters.
There were 7 instances were both sides back-to-back in the third quarter, with Banyule 2 scoring two goals inside the last 40 seconds of that term to lead heading into the final break.
The last quarter of the game for both teams was full of pressure, with both teams battling for the ball to score some goals.
Broadford 1’s defence aimed to get the ball off Banyule 2 throughout the last quarter, they managed to get some goals in, including scoring in the last 50 seconds.
However, Banyule 2 were the stronger team on the night, scoring back-to-back goals on three occasions in the last quarter to secure the win 31-21.
