Blyth joins Demons

Blyth will work alongside recently appointed senior coach David Calthorpe who has replaced Paul Kennedy at the helm of the Demons.

Diamond Creek football operations manager Glenn Walle said the club is pleased to have secured Blyth’s services.

“We as a club are just as enthusiastic as Darren was in the interview,” Walle said.

“David (Calthorpe) said he is exactly the person he needs around him in his first year at the club with his knowledge of the opposition sides and we can only look forward to what we feel is a great positive feeling around the club.”

Blyth has coached Hurstbridge for the past three seasons, winning the 2010 Division 3 premiership before consolidating the Bridges place in Division 2 over the past two years.

His coaching career began in the Essendon District Football League where he was an assistant coach in Craigieburn’s 2006 premiership win.

Prior to coaching, Blyth played at VFA club Coburg under Phil Cleary and Alex Jesaulenko and also spent seven years at Oak Park.
