IT was a big week for the Northern Knights, headlined by 2013 draftee Marcus Bontempelli making his debut for the Western Bulldogs.
MARCUS BONTEMPELLI – AFL DEBUT
Congratulations to 2013 Knights draftee and former Eltham junior Marcus Bontempelli who made his AFL debut for the Western Bulldogs in their Round 5 clash with Carlton. Playing mainly through the midfield and wings, Marcus collected 14 possessions and laid five tackles. Marcus, who was taken at Pick No. 4 in last year’s draft, had showed good form for the Bulldogs VFL team leading to him being selected in the senior team. We wish him all the best for the remainder of the season and hope he continues in the AFL team.
VIC METRO UNDER-16 ACADEMY
Congratulations to U/16 Max Richardson squad members Luke Bunker (St Mary’s), Steve Christou (South Morang), Paul Di Santo (South Morang), Lachlan Murphy (Diamond Creek) and Jackson Smith (Diamond Creek) on being included in the initial U/16 Vic Metro Academy following their recent performances with the Northern Knights in the AFL Victoria U/16 Metropolitan Championships.
KNIGHTS U/16 MAX RICHARSON SQUAD
The Northern Knights U/16 Max Richardson Squad played their second and final game of the AFL Victoria U/16 Metropolitan Championships at Bayswater Oval on Tuesday, April 15. In beautiful football condition the boys took on the Sandringham Dragons in a closely fought match. Unfortunately after leading most of the game our boys were beaten the final moments by 11 points. This bring to an end Phase 1 of the 2014 U/16 Max Richardson Squad and we thank all the boys for their efforts over the pre-season and seven matches. Also a big thank to the coaching staff: Youth Academy Coach: Frankie Raso, Assistant Academy Coach: Brett Potter, U/16 Head Coach: Ben Bailey, U/16 Squad Coaches: Corey McCall, Paul Sartori and Joel Steindl and U/16 Team Manger: Daniel McCall.

KNIGHTS U/15 KEITH BURNS SQUAD
The Knights U/15 Keith Burns Squad played their final two Development Matches against the Western Jets on Wednesday, April 16 at A.K. Lines Reserve in Watsonia. In fantastic conditions both teams played a good style football with the Knights boys continuing to show their improvement. This now brings an end Phase 1 of the Northern Knights U/15 Keith Burns Squad for 2014. A big thank you to our U/15 Coaching Staff, Head Coach: Darren Eldrett, Squad Coaches: Brett Bruce and Michael Ericson along with our Youth Academy Coach: Frankie Raso and Assistant Academy Coach: Brett Potter for their efforts in helping these boys develop over the pre-season.
