Caddy becomes a Cat

The 20-year-old, who has played 24 games in two years with Gold Coast Suns, was snared by the Cats after drawing attention from rival clubs St Kilda and North Melbourne.

Caddy was recruited by Gold Coast with the No. 7 selection in the 2010 draft and attempted to return home at the conclusion of the 2011 season but a proposed move to Essendon couldn’t be agreed upon.

He kicked 15 goals in 22 appearances for the Suns in 2012 and averaged 15 possessions.

Coincidentally, his best performance for Gold Coast came against Geelong in Round 15 where he accumulated 18 disposals and kicked three goals in a narrow loss to the 2011 premier.

A week later he earned a NAB Rising Star nomination after playing an important role in the Suns’ two-point victory over Richmond at Cazaly’s Stadium – the side’s first win of the season.

Caddy was drafted from the Northern Knights. In 2010 he averaged 25 possessions for Vic Metro at the under-18 national championships and was selected in the under-18 All-Australian team.
