The Northern Football League congratulates Eltham’s Nick Coffield on his selection in the 2017 NAB AFL Under-18 All Australian team.
Coffield was selected in the back line after enjoying a strong National Championships for Vic Metro.
He was one of nine Metro players picked in the All-Australian team. Fellow Northern Knights teammate Patrick Naish was also selected.
Coffield was named in Vic Metro’s best players in all four games at the Championships, as the side took out the national title.
Metro won its opening three games against Western Australia, Vic Country and South Australia, before being upset by the Allies last week.
The Northern Knights skipper has also enjoyed a big season in the TAC Cup and is being touted as a possible first-round draft pick.
The 190cm utility is the prototype modern day midfielder and Northern Knights talent manager Rhy Gieschen dedicated his rise to his adaptability to different roles.
“Nick has probably increased his versatility this year by playing in the midfield,” Gieschen told NFL.org.au earlier this year.
“He has played across half back most of his career and he’s even been able to swing forward at times for us and have an impact.”
Gieschen said his composure through congested situations is what helps the Eltham product stand out.
“His footwork in traffic is of real high quality and his decision making with ball in hand is his main asset.”
