Competition returns this weekend

The NFNL is pleased to confirm a return of community football this weekend.

The Victorian Government today announced easing of restrictions across the state following 12 days of lockdown, with the new measures to take effect from 11:59pm on Tuesday 27 July.

While we are thrilled to have all football competitions back this weekend, it will involve a return to the conditions that were in place across all community leagues on the weekend of June 19-20.

Please continue below for a brief summary of conditions that will apply at all matches this weekend.

• Open for all ages, training and competition. Density quotient of 1 person per 4sqm applies

• Limited to minimum number of people required to participate in and facilitate the activity (i.e. players, coaches)

• Spectators not allowed (excludes people necessary for events such as teachers, instructors, trainers, coaches, umpires, carers, parents and guardians).

The NFNL acknowledges spectators not being permitted to attend this weekend’s matches is a major challenge for clubs, and a disappointing outcome for supporters.

However, we respectfully ask the entire NFNL community to please respect the protocols implemented by the Victorian Government.

These protocols have been put in place with the community’s health and safety the priority.

Getting back on the football field, and hopefully the netball court, this weekend is a major step towards community sport returning as we know and love it.

We ask that you please support us by following the protocols in place to ensure restrictions can be eased for all community sporting activities and events as soon as possible.

Updated Return to Play protocols will be distributed to clubs once they are provided by AFL Victoria and Netball Victoria.

We thank the NFNL community for your assistance and understanding.
