Hamilton extends stay with Mustangs

Jason Hamilton will lead Reservoir for the next two seasons after re-signing as senior coach of the Mustangs until 2022.

Hamilton was already contracted for the 2021 campaign and has re-signed for a further season following this year’s season cancellation.

He said he was looking forward to continuing his rebuild of the Mustangs following three successive bottom-place finishes on the Heidelberg Golf Club Division 3 ladder.

“I had no hesitation in signing long-term with a great core of players at the club,” Hamilton said.

“With the committee pushing hard on and off the field to be successful and a lot of young players on our list, there is so much potential moving forward and I am excited to be a part of it.

“My goal over the next two years is to play good, consistent footy, make a massive improvement on the field and build the foundations that lead to finals footy.

“I am looking forward to being a long-term coach and member of this great club and very excited about the future of the Mustangs.”

Reservoir president Luke Bryant said Hamilton had impressed in his short time with the club and was the right man to continue to lead the club once senior football returned in the NFNL.

“As a club we are looking for stability and we have seen that in Jason’s preparation before the COVID situation, during the shutdown and as we plan with moving forward,” Bryant said.

“We find ourselves in a good position leading into 2021 and as a committee are extremely happy to have Hammer signing on until the end of 2022.”
