The Greensborough Football Netball Club has appointed 2014 premiership captain Matthew Hyde as their senior men’s coach for the 2024 campaign.
Hyde returns to Greensborough War Memorial Park where he played 74 games between 2013 and 2016 and led the club to premiership success in 2014.
He made three consecutive Division 1 Team of the Year appearances and won the Boro’s best and fairest in 2013 during his time at the club, before going on to be named in the NFNL fans Team of the Decade 2010-2019.
Hyde also found premiership success at Bundoora as a player, being a member of the 2011 Division 1 premiership winning team and playing 99 senior games for the club overall.
He replaces Saade Ghazi, who spent the last two years at the helm.
Greensborough also confirmed Hyde’s assistants for the 2024 season, with Michael Hooper, Hyde’s 2014 premiership teammate, coming across from Eltham after helping the Panthers claim silverware in Division 2 this year, while Matt Glen will continue his role as an assistant next season.
